Carla Borel is a French/English photographer, born in Paris, raised in the UK. Her first job was picking up feathers at the Moulin Rouge. Following this she was a croupier at some of London's most prestigious casinos, as well as on the cruise ships. Carla then worked for many years as a bar tender at London's foremost bohemian hang out, the French House in Soho, where in 2006, she curated the first UK solo show of Le Gun magazine editor Neal Fox. From 2004 to 2006, she was production assistant to acclaimed advertising photographer John Claridge. In 2007, she joined the art world formally at Timothy Taylor Gallery where for several years she was PA to Emma Dexter before spearheading the gallery's communications strategy until summer 2014. Carla is currently working on independent photography projects in London, Paris and New York, and continuing a portrait series of famed artists, featuring Susan Hiller, John Stezaker and Sean Scully among others.
