I wish I could save you somehow
During the summer of 2020, I was selected to take part in the inaugural residency programme at the Columbia Hotel in London, cofounded with Roman Road gallery director, Marisa Bellani.
My project uses the hotel as the basis for exploring memory, transience and traces of past guests such as the artist/musician Genesis P-Orridge, the only previous guest of the hotel that I am aware of meeting. The titles of the works are from lyrics by Genesis P-Orridge and his band Psychic TV, from songs such as The Orchids and Godstar.
Using analogue colour photography, I have made single and double exposures. This project is not yet finished and I plan to use elements of the hotel’s archive to make a small publication and a large scale artwork.
